Stonecutter is the newest addition to the Fleet Street Quarter, the Architects’ Journal reports

Stonecutter, a landmark 13-storey workspace, is the newest addition to the Fleet Street Quarter, the Architects’ Journal ‘s Fran Williams reports.

Developed by CO—RE for La Caisse and PIMCO, Stonecutter is a 240,000 sq ft office-led development in the City of London, providing a progressive response to the changing demands of modern occupiers.

The building achieves an impressive embodied carbon figure of 581 kg CO₂e/m², surpassing the London Plan’s aspirational target and marking it as one of the most sustainable new office buildings in the City.

Alongside architectural innovation and a deep sensitivity to context by project architects tp bennett, the scheme combines design excellence with a strong emphasis on sustainability and wellbeing.

Now fully let to a diverse mix of tenants including Travers Smith and Trainline, Stonecutter exemplifies the appeal of well-connected, high-performing workspaces in central London.

With the offices now 100% let, David Ainsworth, CO—RE Chairman, shared his thoughts:

“Stonecutter represents the complexity of the modern development process, conceived and designed in the period before Covid. To move forward it needed a pre-letting, a joint venture partner and a new headlease from the City of London, all of which happened simultaneously on a memorable night in 2021. With the offices now 100 per cent let and the building looking stunning, it is a successful addition to the city and a tribute to great teamwork.”

James Elliot, Director at tp bennett shared:
“The Stonecutter site consists of three very different building types. The key challenge was to tie these together to make a cohesive and inviting place to work, rest and play…The creation of a pocket park with its new pavilion whose green roof leads the eye back to its neighbour are all elements of scale, working together to provide a wholistic and welcoming public realm rooted in place.”
