Central London’s embodied carbon reduction efforts: London Property Alliance and Arup report the current picture and what the future holds

Since 2021 there has been a 24% reduction in embodied carbon intensity in central London, marking positive progress. Although the capital is a world-leader when it comes to reporting on carbon figures and ensuring that embodied carbon is considered throughout the development process, there is still more work to do to achieve the 1.5-degree decarbonisation pathway. 

The London Property Alliance and Arup have put together an insightful report on embodied carbon in central London, drawing on data from 17 central London developers all working on market-leading commercial office-led projects, including CO-RE projects Vista and Stonecutter. This report shares what “good” looks like in the current landscape and what challenges London development is still facing.
